The time for rail is now, and its best years are ahead of us

The Government's announced its vision for New Zealand's railways this morning..

As part of its NZ rail plan and value report, it proposes to focus investment on national and metropolitan networks in order to free up our roads.

The work will be funded by the Government, and track users, through the National Land Transport Fund.

Minister of State Owned Enterprises David Clark says this plan is a great example of the Labour Government putting its money where its mouth is.

He says it is up to them to firmly re-establish rail and ensure it has a sustainable future.
