Taranaki Police are investigating after a string of car thefts

Taranaki Police are investigating after a string of car thefts

Last month Police dealt with a number of young people in relation to numerous complaints of Mazda cars being stolen.

Senior Sergeant Kyle Davie says they're not sure why the Mazda brand was being targeted in particular, but they were aware it had a link to social media.

He says videos of the thefts were being posted to various platforms, and there seemed to be some perception Mazda cars are easy to break into.
