The Trade Minister is confident a trade deal will get across the line with the European Union

The Trade Minister is confident a trade deal will get across the line with the European Union

When he heads off next month, Damien O'Connor will be the first cabinet minister to travel overseas since the borders were closed.

O'Connor wants free trade deals with both the UK and the EU.

He says says the 27 member states have to buy into any deal -- but the necessity of food trade during Covid-19 is seeping through.

O'Connor says we've done 11 rounds of negotiations and while there are issues - good progress is being made.
