The freight industry is being urged to implement digital logs for truck drivers

The freight industry is being urged to implement digital logs for truck drivers

Currently drivers log the number of hours they work manually, raising concerns some are working longer hours than is being recorded.

The Road Transport Forum is advocating to make the process electronic, saying it would help to get rid of inconsistencies in workers' hours.

Forum Chief Executive Nick Leggett says their stance won't be welcomed by everyone.

He says the issue with the transport industry is that it operates at the behest of its customers, often having to deal with high expectations and an urgency to move things.
