Lydia Ko has provided a source of inspiration to Phil Mickelson's history breaking major win

Mickelson has cited Ko, who won for the first time in three years earlier this year, as a major influence on his triumph at the PGA Championship.

He says for Ko to come back and play as well as she has in 2021 was a major motivation for him as he became the oldest major winner.

Mickelson is also pointing to Stewart Cink , the 2009 British Open winner, who won for the first time since then in 11 years last year then won again this year as another inspiration.
