Stand-in skipper Tom Latham assures it's a level playing field in the second cricket test against England, despite how their first tussle ended

Stand-in skipper Tom Latham assures it's a level playing field in the second cricket test against England, despite how their first tussle ended

In mundane fashion, England did their best to bat out a draw on the final day of the first test, after New Zealand set themselves up for victory with an aggressive declaration.

Latham says while they were in a position to win, it doesn't impact the way either team will approach the second test starting tonight.

A career dripping in success, Mahe Drysdale has no qualms stepping away from rowing for good.

The 42-year-old has today announced his retirement from elite rowing, capping off a career that includes two Olympic golds and one bronze, as well as five World Championship titles.

He says he's comfortable with his decision, which he knew would come in 2021.

Sam Whitelock, Richie Mo'unga and Sevu Reece return to the Crusaders side for this weekend's Super Rugby Transtasman match against the Rebels.

Hooker Codie Taylor and number eight Cullen Grace are out due to rest and a hip injury respectively.

For the Blues, they've named Hoskins Sotutu, Alex Hodgman and Nepo Laulala in their starting XV for their clash against the Western Force.
