A notorious poacher is facing fresh charges after police stopped his car in Lower Hutt, finding 95 paua

Fishery officers then searched his home to discover thousands of empty paua shells, and 30 kilograms of paua meat.
MPI National Compliance Manager, Steve Ham, says the man is well known to them, having been in the courts 11 times on fishery offences.
He says the rules are there for a reason, and those who abuse them will be caught and dealt with accordingly.
