He's rolled Michael McCormack as leader of the Australian Nationals Party - and will also become Deputy Prime Minister.
Australian correspondent Oliver Peterson says McCormack's probably not been his Party's greatest advocate - while trying to toe the wider coalition line.
But he says to go back to Barnaby Joyce is just odd ... after the circumstances of his resignation three years ago.
