Despite no cases of Covid-19 being found in the community, officials are highlighting the need for more testing

Despite no cases of Covid-19 being found in the community, officials are highlighting the need for more testing

Director General of Health Ashley Bloomfield says it's critical anyone who was at locations of interest in Wellington at the relevant times..or anyone who has Covid-19 symptoms .. gets tested.

It's now five days since a Covid positive tourist flew home to Australia from Wellington.

Yesterday our labs processed more than 10 thousand tests - more than three and a half thousand of those in Wellington.

Bloomfield says there are more than fifty testing sites in the greater Wellington region - and people needing a test should call ahead to Healthline to book an appointment.

He says if you're no longer in Wellington, but were at a location of interest.. or have symptoms elsewhere in the country, the same advice applies.

He says it is a legal requirement for those at exposure sites to follow advice about isolating and testing.
