In the lower North Island, it's the wind causing problems

A strong wind warning is in place from 11 this morning for Wellington and Wairarapa south of Featherston.
MetService says severe north to northwest gales gusting 140 kilometres per hour in exposed places, could do a bit of damage.
Waka Kotahi has already issued a strong wind warning for the Remutaka Hill, advising those on motorbikes, or in light or high-sided vehicles to take extra care.
And the Wellington harbour ferries are running to a restricted timetable due to the weather.
