The West Coast Regional Council's embattled chief executive has resigned

The West Coast Regional Council's embattled chief executive has resigned

Vin Smith has quit just seven months after starting the role - following three months on gardening leave.

He's been on personal leave since late April after a clash with the council's chairman Allan Birchfield.

Leaked emails reveal Smith had sought advice about alleged bullying behaviour and interference by the chairman.
