Fire and Emergency won't disclose what action's been taken - despite concerns about the risks to public.
A Herald source says the volunteer firefighter in Canterbury drove for more than six years - including to emergencies - without a Class 2 heavy vehicle licence.
Canterbury Area Commander Dave Berry says the fire-fighter's been removed from driving duties and appropriate action's been taken.
He says other members of the volunteer brigade have the correct licence.
