About 80 officers have executed search warrants on eight homes in Mahia, Wairoa, Whakatane and Kawerau.
The Ministry believes the highly sophisticated ring has taken more than 4000 crayfish from the Hawkes Bay over a seven month period.
The commercial value of the crayfish is estimated at over 300 thousand dollars.
