A breath of fresh air for medical experts investigating heart problems

It's been long thought that respiratory viruses played a big part in the increase in cardiac issues during winter.
But a Waikato Hospital study has found that during lockdown, cardiac problems stayed the same, despite respiratory viruses falling sharply.
Study author Dr Cat Chang says it goes against all the previous evidence, and her own thinking.
She says she was expecting to have a positive finding rather than a negative one but it's good, as it points researchers in the right direction.
