Javarney Drummond, Niko Hill, Jacko" Wallace, Joey McCarthy and Andrew Goodger were killed at Washdyke on Saturday.
The driver, Tyreese Fleming remains in hospital.
Herald journalist Anna Leask, is in Timaru, and says among the bouquets, balloons, photos and jewellery - are notes.
Some are in sealed envelopes or snaplock plastic bags, addressed to the boys.
