Fewer businesses are expected to claim the wage subsidy this time round

The entire country's at Covid-19 alert level four for three days, apart from Auckland and the Coromandel peninsula, which are probably at that level for a week.
The wage subsidy will be reinstated from Friday if the country's still in lockdown, with businesses able to apply if they anticipate a 40 per cent loss of revenue.
Infometrics head forecaster Gareth Kiernan says two thirds to three quarters of businesses were eligible for the wage subsidy during last year's lockdown.
He says it's a bit tougher this time round, but thinks about half of all businesses could apply.
