Distinction Hamilton -- one of Waikato's three MIQ facilities -- will transition to becoming a quarantine facility for local cases from tomorrow
10 October 2021
The move is a response to the growing number of Covid-19 community cases in Waikato.
The change is a temporary measure, that will remain in place as long as it's needed to support the health response.
Joint Head of Managed Isolation and Quarantine, Brigadier Rose King, says the change will mean the region has 110 quarantine rooms available for community cases, dedicated to the local community.
She says it will also help maintain quarantine capacity in Auckland, where case numbers are also continuing to rise.
