Reports of a Covid-19 case on Waiheke Island
9 November 2021
Local board chair Cath Handley says a person tested positive at one of the local health centres yesterday.
It comes after the Ministry of Health confirmed an unexpected positive Covid wastewater detection on the island, on Sunday.
Handley says it's disappointing, but not unexpected.
She says it's a local person, and is the first positive test locally.
A case was confirmed on the island last month - they were a close contact of an existing Auckland case and had been tested in the city.
Residents with even mild symptoms are being urged to get tested today.
