The disappearance of Richard Hinkley remains a mystery, nearly six years on

The disappearance of Richard Hinkley remains a mystery, nearly six years on

The Christchurch man was last seen on December 23, 2015.

Speaking on TVNZ's Cold Case Detective Sergeant Michael Freeman says it looks as if Hinkley made a cup of tea, left his slippers on the floor and simply walked out the door.

He says he could have taken his own life, deliberately hidden, or been killed.

Freeman hopes the TVNZ Cold Case episode will encourage anyone with information to come forward.
