Retailers look set to have a happy Christmas

Worldline data - formerly Paymark - shows Aucklanders rushed to flash their cash from Friday to Sunday after more than 100 days in lockdown.
From Friday to Sunday, spending on haircuts and beauty treatments rose 34 percent on the same time last year.
Activity for cafes and restaurants was up 86 percent on the same time last week and 180 percent for clubs and bars.
National average spending for core retailers was 114-million dollars per day last week.
Head of data George Putnam says it's not as strong a performance as Black Friday.
But he says everything shows trends are consistent with previous years - with possibly even higher spending - meaning we're heading on the right track towards Christmas.
