Shannon Henry has been sentenced to seven years and eight months in prison, for wounding with intent, and illegal use of firearms and a vehicle.
The 23-year-old was sentenced in the Hamilton District Court this morning.
The officer was seriously injured during the late night traffic stop in Chartwell - and still receiving treatment.
Police say the sentencing sends a clear message offenders will be held to account.
