9 December 2021
Sainey Marong, who's serving a life sentence, requested 7500 dollars in damages, claiming his religious rights had been breached.
He had asked for an audio recording of the religious text - spanning 17 CDs.
Prisoners are only allowed 12 in their cell at a time.
Prison bosses allowed the request, but when Marong was transferred to Rolleston Prison it wasn't passed on.
The judge says Corrections have tried to support him and his religion, so his application is denied.
