    A person has been airlifted to safety after getting into trouble at Waverley Beach, in south Taranaki

    A person has been airlifted to safety after getting into trouble at Waverley Beach, in south Taranaki


    Several others jumped into the water to help - but had to swim to some nearby rocks and climb onto them.

    Police confirmed the person in trouble was flown to safety, while the rest of the group navigated their way back to land.

    One person was treated by St John for minor injuries.
