Tom Walsh is taking on more self-responsibility after a coaching shake-up for the Olympic shot putter

The three-time world champion has revealed he parted ways with long-term mentor Dale Stevenson in November.

Stevenson - Athletics New Zealand's National throws coach - has now decided to return to Australia after this year's Commonwealth Games.

Walsh says he'll still work with assistant coach Hayden Hall - but in a reduced capacity.
