Earlier this month a member had two fingertips severed in a pulley on the FV Remus.
Reginald Stephens has since been fined 1500 dollars for failing to notify Maritime New Zealand.
Maritime's south deputy compliance manager, John Drury, says under maritime law skippers have a responsibility to report all accidents.
Further court action is proceeding against others involved.
