The Lung Foundation is calling for more cancer treatment funding - not just research
20 January 2022
The Ministry of Health and other agencies have announced 6.2 million dollars of funding into research into inequalities in cancer care and survival for Maori and Pasifika.
Lung cancer will be a focus - with Maori four times more likely to die of it than other groups.
Lung Foundation Chief Executive Philip Hope says research funding is good - but more needs to be done to help people already sick with the disease.
Hope says they want better access to standard of care treatments so people can stay well, now.
