The number of people applying to home school their children has increased almost fourfold in a year

The number of people applying to home school their children has increased almost fourfold in a year

The Ministry of Education says there's been a sharp increase in enquiries since September.

In January alone there were 735 applications, up on 187 in 2021.

Principals Federation President Cherie Taylor-Patel believes school is actually the best place for kids to be learning.

She says schools have trained teachers, resources and the environment set up to support learning and social and emotional wellbeing.
