Fire teams are on the watch in Northland as a wind storm blows through the region..with the risk a small fire could become devastating

Fire and Emergency New Zealand have suspended all current Northland fire permits and permit applications from today until Monday morning.

They are asking people not to light outdoor fires.

Northland Community Risk Manager Mitchell Brown says helicopters and fire crews are on stand-by.

He says its about the entire community helping out and Northlanders need to respect the no fire rules this week.
