The protest outside Parliament has stung businesses right across Wellington's CBD
3 March 2022
Wellington Chamber of Commerce says in the past three weeks, businesses in the immediate area either closed or faced a drop in activity of 70 to 80 percent.
Chair Simon Arcus says places like Cuba Street, almost on the other side of the city centre, were also closing early.
He says it's a story of layers - with the first one being the Red traffic light setting, the second being Omicron and then lastly the protest.
Arcus says it's been very tough for business.
