Part of State Highway 1B, east of Hamilton, is temporarily closed after a railway line section was dislodged for the third time

There are detours in place with the road closed at the southern end of Telephone Road.

Waka Kotahi Waikato Manager Cara Lauder says they need to close the level crossing while they investigate options to stop it happening again.

The damage is believed to be caused by the Holland and Telephone roads intersection being lower than the level crossing.

This causes trucks to scrape over the crossing and dislodge the track.
