World tennis number one Iga Swiatek has underlined her favouritism for the French Open with a 54-minute straight sets first-round win over Lesia Tsurenko

World tennis number one Iga Swiatek has underlined her favouritism for the French Open with a 54-minute straight sets first-round win over Lesia Tsurenko

The 20-year-old, who won at Roland Garros in 2020, extended her winning streak to 29 matches.

Swiatek is also keen to contest Wimbledon, despite the hoo-ha over a ranking points deduction from the ATP and WTA governing bodies due to their ban on Russian or Belarusian players entering.

Defending French Open women's champion Barbora Krejcikova has been knocked out, but men's equivalent Novak Djokovic has eased through in straight sets.
