    It's time to turn the excitement over Ikea up a notch


    The Swedish homeware giant has won consent to buy land at Auckland's Sylvia Park for its New Zealand debut.

    The Overseas Investment Office has just released the decision granting consent, with an opening date of December 2024.

    First Retail Group managing director Chris Wilkinson says this a huge deal.

    He says New Zealand has been waiting for Ikea for a long time.
