The Highlanders halfback will debut under the roof in the second test in Dunedin, coming off the bench to back up Aaron Smith.
Fakatava says he's remaining calm as the hours tick down til his likely first appearance in test rugby.
Chiefs prop Aidan Ross is also on the bench and poised to debut.
The only change to the side sees Dalton Papalii start at blindside and Scott Barrett move into the second row.
