Cars entered Hautapu Cemetery on Monday night, leaving large burnout marks and driving over graves.
Waipa District Council is asking anyone with information to contact Cambridge police.
Mayor Jim Mylchreest says the community is doing its best to help find the culprits.
He says for anyone to go into a cemetery and do such substantial damage is horrendous - not only for families with buried loved ones, but for council staff too.
