About 25 dogs were on a Far North property, where a man was mauled to death yesterday

The Far North District Council has confirmed the number that were at the Panguru, North Hokianga residence however, some of these were puppies.

A history check by the Council's Animal Management Team has found there were no active registered dogs for the property.

A 69-year-old man was attacked about 2pm yesterday and police shot dead one dog during attempts to control four.
