Jay Cutler has dec lared he can't "understand" why his ex Kristin Cavallari has lifted the lid on their marriage after she called the relationship "toxic"

The 35-year-old reality star was married to former footballer Jay, 39, from 2013 until 2020 and she recently opened up about what went wrong between them, and Jay has now responded to her comments insisting he doesn't want to share any details about their split

Speaking on the 'Sofia With an F' podcast, he said: "If she wants to say stuff, she can say stuff. I'm not going to go down that road about her. I mean, she's still the mother of my kids."

The former couple are parents to two children together, Camden, nine, Jaxon, eight, and six-year-old Saylor, and Jay is adamant he can't understand why Kristin is talking about their marriage.

He added: "But I also don't understand ... It's been two and a half years. Why are we having these conversations in public? Why are we doing this? We're done here."

Jay also reportedly called Kristin's comments "comical" and added she can "say whatever she wants (because that's) the way she feels."

Speaking on the 'Call Her Daddy' podcast, Kristin said of her marriage: "It was toxic. Period, end of story. That's all I kinda need to say."

The former 'The Hills' star went on to explain that there was no "major" catalyst in the end of her marriage and "just knew" when it was the right time to call things quits.

She said: "Nothing major happened at the end. "I remember always asking my mom, 'But how am I going to know?' and she would just be like, 'You'll just know.' And I did, I just kinda knew. It's the scariest thing, it's also the saddest thing. I mean, it's so many emotions but it can also be the best thing. I think with any relationship, you just have to realise what are deal breakers for you. What's important to you and what's not?"
