It's processing visas under a new immigration pathway within a week, and wiping fees for successful applicants.

Insurance assessors and debris removal specialists are top of the initial priority list.

National Party Immigration Spokesperson, Erica Stanford says it's an acknowledgement that the visa system is costly, bureucratic, and takes a long to get in the required workers.

She says it was clearly seen last year, when there were struggles to get desperately needed workers in the country.
