An appeal for the public's help to identify green fingered thieves, targeting Christchurch's Mona Vale Garden Park

An appeal for the public's help to identify green fingered thieves, targeting Christchurch's Mona Vale Garden Park

Hundreds of plants have been stolen from the public gardens over the past six months - including 150 tulips snatched in a single night.

Security footage shows a woman using a wheelie bin attached to an electric scooter.

Deputy Director of Botanic Gardens and Mona Vale Nicky Brown has labelled the repeated thefts selfish and dispiriting.

She says they haven't been able to identify the individuals from the footage, and because there are no vehicles involved, they can't trace a registration number.

They're asking the public to report any suspicious behaviour.
