A man was left badly burnt from chin to waist after an incorrect dose of photo-therapy

A man was left badly burnt from chin to waist after an incorrect dose of photo-therapy

The Health and Disability Commissioner has ruled the dermatology clinic breached the code of health and disability consumers' rights.

The man was being treated for eczema, but an hour after leaving the clinic - the dermatologist told him he'd had the wrong treatment.

His skin blistered for several days - forcing him to stay off work, confined to bed.

Commissioner Vanessa Caldwell says it's crucial healthcare providers have measures to correctly identify patients.

She says the clinic responded appropriately with an investigation.
