Police are asking the public for help, after shots were fired at a 70-year-old woman's Whangarei home

Officers were called shortly after 4am at a Collingwood Street property.

The woman wasn't injured, but has been left distressed.

Police want to hear from anyone who witnessed it, or might know who's involved.

Drivers who were in the area, are also urged to check if something has been captured on their dashcam.
