    Another option could soon be on the table for people needing oestrogen


    Pharmac's consulting on funding oestradiol gel - as well as the current patch - from November.

    About 86 thousand people used oestradiol in the last year - with demand for the patches more than tripling since 2021.

    There are global supply issues with the patches - which a gel could help counter.

    The gel's expected to benefit more than 18 thousand people in its first year.
