A Christchurch ice rink remains closed, after a student died on a school trip earlier this week

A Christchurch ice rink remains closed, after a student died on a school trip earlier this week

The 13-year-old was injured at Alpine Ice on Tuesday following a fall.

Haeata Community Campus and a family member confirmed her death on social media yesterday.

The facility's been closed to the public since the incident.

Worksafe's opened an investigation into Alpine Ice's safety procedures, and the policies in place for risk management.

A spokesperson says students should be able to participate safely, and family must have confidence their children will be kept safe.
