    Thousands of Wellingtonians were awoken to a strong earthquake last night



    The 4.8 magnitude quake struck before midnight 15 kilometres south-west of Wellington at a depth of 13 kilometres.

    Newtown resident Wesley says it felt stronger than reported.

    He says from the fifth floor of his apartment, the building shunted.
