Net migration has fallen - but is still well above the average

In the year to June, New Zealand's migration gain was 73 thousand-300, down from more than 136 thousand annually to last October.

It represents the third- biggest net gain for a June year.

It's driven by migrants from India, the Philippines, China and Fiji.

Over the same period, more than 55 thousand New Zealand citizens left the country.
