Visitor numbers are on the rise but still short of pre-pandemic levels

Stats NZ data shows more than 3.2 million overseas travellers arrived in the year to June - up 27 percent from the same time last year.

Despite the increase, the number is 17 percent lower than 2019's annual June record - at 3.9 million.

Australia was the main source of arrivals this year, followed by the US, China, the UK and India.
