The driver has stitches and a dislodged tooth, after what he says was a racially charged attack by a passenger on Saturday.
Police arrested a suspect in Avondale town centre yesterday.
He'll appear in the Auckland District Court on Friday.
Inspector Wayne Kitcher says Police have zero tolerance for violence on public transport.
