    A scene examination's underway today after a body was discovered in a burnt out vehicle on a Dargaville beach yesterday


    Northland Police launched a homicide investigation after the person was found inside a vehicle on fire at Ripiro Beach just after 10.30am.

    A scene examination at the beach and a nearby property in Te Kopuru is happening today.

    Police are speaking with a person of interest, but haven't made an arrest.

    They're not currently seeking anyone else.

    They say it's unrelated to the death of Joanna Sione-Lauaki whose body was discovered on another Dargaville beach last month.

    Police are also treating her death as a homicide.
