Peter Andre is planning a trip back to Australia soon to visit his sick mum after she was diagnosed with Parkinson's and Alzheimer's disease

The 51-year-old singer has expressed his concern for his elderly mum Thea after her health began to decline but was unable to jet Down Under to see her during her latest stint in hospital as he was preparing to welcome a new baby with his wife Emily - but Pete is now determined to get to Australia to see his parents soon.

In his column for OK! magazine, he wrote: "My parents marked their 69th wedding anniversary recently, which is amazing. Their relationship is so inspiring, their love has always been something I've looked up to. I'm praying they make it safely to their 70th anniversary next year.

"It's really tough to see your parents get old or sick, but I'm also so grateful as I know how lucky I am to still have parents around. A lot of people don't have that. I will be going to Australia to see them soon."

Peter stayed in the UK with Emily and their new daughter Arabella after her birth in April while his two eldest kids - Junior, 19, and Princess, 17 - flew Down Under to visit Thea while she was unwell.

He previously paid tribute to the teens for rushing to see their new baby sister and then getting on a plane to go visit their grandparents.

In a post on social media, he wrote: "Junior and princess. The fact that you drove to Somerset to be with us hours before and the days that followed to see the arrival of your baby sister, AND THEN to get on a plane and travel 12,000 miles to be with your grandmother in a very difficult time for her shows me what beautiful children you are.

"I will never forget this moment. Thank you for being truly amazing. Love you all so much. Keep cuddling mum for me please and tell her I love her and we will come out soon."

The 'Mysterious Girl' singer previous revealed he was struggling to "come to terms" with his mum's health troubles. In a column for OK!, he wrote: "Although I thank God my parents are still here, I am seeing the rapid decline, especially in Mum. I find that part hard to deal with.

"Like most people, l'm so close to my parents that it is really difficult to come to terms with."
