Several creases to iron out before the Government can deliver more clinical psychologists, as promised

Several creases to iron out before the Government can deliver more clinical psychologists, as promised

Health New Zealand's outlined a three-year workforce plan - including training 20 more postgraduate psychology students a year from 2026.

Mental Health Minister Matt Doocey's evaded questions about the cost - but says he's excited about the plan.

Clinical Psychologist Paul Skirrow says right now universities don't have the resources to train more clinical psychologists.

He says the Government's promising there will be money for this training - and universities will be able to bid for it once it's worked through the process of what that will look like.
