The police watchdog's ruled a Christchurch police dog handler was justified in his actions, during a 2022 dramatic arrest involving four teen in stolen cars

The police watchdog's ruled a Christchurch police dog handler was justified in his actions, during a 2022 dramatic arrest involving four teen in stolen cars

The officer attempted to stop one travelling in the convoy of three, when it collided with his van on Stanmore Road, Linwood.

He deactivated his lights and sirens, due to the manner of the driving.

Seconds later, the stolen car ran a red light and collided with another vehicle - seriously injuring one person.

Superintendent Tony Hill says the officer made the right call to try and de-escalate an unpredictable situation.
